To act on the important consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and the Greek leadership on strengthening the bond of cultural exchanges between China and Greece, and with the support of the Chinese and Greek governments, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences established the Chinese School of Classical Studies at Athens (CSCSA) in 2024.

The establishment of the CSCSA marks a significant step in giving Chinese civilization a stable and sustained platform in the heartland of Western civilization. The CSCSA will advance the Global Civilization Initiative, and contribute to the mutual exchange and learning between Chinese civilization and the civilizations of the rest of the world, as well as between classical and modern civilizations.
