To vividly showcase the major achievements in studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Culture, fully reflect the latest progress in building the National Cultural Center, effectively advance the development of a country with a thriving socialist culture, and promote cultural exchange and mutual learning among civilizations, the 2025 Beijing Culture Forum opened in Beijing on September 23. The Forum, jointly hosted by the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, and the Beijing Municipal People’s Government, introduced an innovative special session for the release of major achievements, during which the “Ten Milestones in Developing Beijing as the National Cultural Center in 2024” were unveiled.
The ten major events selected are: significant achievements in the development of the Xi Jinping Thought on Culture Research Center; the First World Conference of Classics deepening dialogue between Chinese and foreign civilizations; Beijing creating a new model for the conservation of the Great Wall; the successful inscription of the Beijing Central Axis on the World Heritage List highlighting the renewed charm of the ancient capital; the “240-hour Visa-Free Transit” policy boosting international cultural tourism; major breakthroughs in the archaeological work at the Liulihe site; “blockbuster cultural and creative products” leading new trends in museums and cultural heritage; the First International Youth Poetry Festival — Special Session For BRICS Countries bringing Chinese poetry to the world; “Global Gen-Z Touring Beijing” enabling young people worldwide to experience Chinese culture; and Beijing spearheading the UHD Audiovisual Pioneer Action Plan.
The selection of the “Ten Milestones in Developing Beijing as the National Cultural Center in 2024” was jointly organized by the Beijing Municipal Leading Group Office for Advancing the Building of the National Cultural Center and the Publicity Department of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, together with Xinhuanet. The selection launched an open call for cases from relevant central and Beijing municipal entities, as well as from the general public. The list was finalized through online voting and offline evaluation. These ten milestones vividly showcase the major achievements in implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Culture and fully reflect the latest progress in advancing the building of the National Cultural Center.
